News broke today that the Conservative Political Action Conference, known as CPAC, has disinvited Milo Yiannopoulos from their upcoming meeting after he reportedly made comments supporting pedophilia.
Word spread quickly through Republican circles and there was fear this was a new threat to free speech. Hoping to quell the uproar, a memo was circulated reassuring conservatives that limited hate speech would still be allowed, despite the ban on pedophilia. Here is an excerpt:
“We have a strong record of supporting comments that are sexist(we don’t support equal pay for equal work and have a confessed pussy grabber as Commander in Chief), racist(our current President denied the last President’s legitimacy because he was black), and homophobic(we supported the Defense of Marriage Act and focus on “traditional families”), but pedophilia is over the line. The Republican Party stands for family values, and while sexism, racism, and homophobia are family values, pedophilia is not.”
